Henry Lee Pendergrass, 67 of Midland, passed away on Friday July 5, 2024. Visitation will be from 4:00pm – 5:00 pm Friday July 19, 2024, at Christ Church Anglican in Midland. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday July 20, 2024, at Christ Church Anglican in Midland.
Henry was born on August 18, 1956, in Pittsburg, Texas to Robert and Mary Pendergrass. Growing up, he learned to work on his family's ranch and graduated from Pittsburg High School. He was not ashamed to claim he was a kangaroo, having attended Austin College in Sherman, Texas. He received his Master of Divinity from Virginia Theological Seminary, in Arlington, VA. Following seminary, he was a curate at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Dallas and later an interim priest at Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Dallas. He married his lovely wife Colleen in 1995 and started work at the Bishop Mason Retreat Center in Flower Mound, Texas. In 1998 he planted St. Nicholas Episcopal Church at the Bishop Mason Retreat Center. While at St. Nicholas, Henry was blessed with 2 daughters, Abigail and Elizabeth who he adored. Henry transferred to the Anglican Church in 2006 and planted Church of the Resurrection in Flower Mound, Texas. In 2013, he was called to come to West Texas and Christ Church Anglican in Midland, Texas.
Henry faithfully loved and served his Lord Jesus. He was a gifted preacher, teacher and pastor. The Holy Spirit worked through Henry to draw many to Jesus. We are confident that Henry was welcomed into the gates of Heaven by Jesus, saying, "Well done, good and faithful servant!" Colleen, Abby, Annie and all who knew and loved Henry look forward to that great reunion one day in Heaven with the Lord Jesus, Henry and all who know Jesus as their Savior.
Henry is survived by his wife Colleen Pendergrass, his beloved daughters Abigail Lebron and her husband Jhaivony, and Elizabeth Pendergrass, his siblings Keith Pendergrass and his wife Juli, Virginia Lannen, and Peter Pendergrass and his wife Desiree.
He is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Mary Pendergrass.
The family would like to express their gratitude towards Dr Mangat and his office at Texas Oncology and especially the valet parking ladies who always put a smile on his face, Dr. John Araujo and Dr. Musa Yilmaz and their offices at M.D. Anderson, Home Hospice, and Faithful Journey Home Care.
But most of all the family would like to thank our Christ Church and Midland family who has loved, prayed, and supported us as Christ loves his church.

So sad to learn of the recent passing of my Sig Tau fraternity brother. We met as freshmen at Austin College in 1974. Sarah Waters was also a freshman. Henry was the Best Man at our wedding on 9/9/78 at Memorial Dr. Presbyterian Church in Houston. I will always have wonderful memories of my good friend and confidant.

Colleen and family:

My condolences to all the family. It was many years ago when Father Henry was at Church of the Holy Cross in Dallas, but I remember the spirit and excitement that he brought to the church. And when Father Henry moved on, I would sometimes hear of his work in Flower Mound and always wished that he would visit Holy Cross. I know he will be missed by all those who knew him. Colleen and family
I am so sorry to learn of Father Henry's passing. My wife and I lived in Midland for 44 years prior where we were members of St. Nicholas prior to re-locating to Dallas. In 2014 I returned to Midland to oversee the development of Chris Davidson Opportunity Park. Some friends invited me to attend the Wednesday night family gathering at Christ Church which is where I first met Father Henry. For the next 6 years whenever I was in town and able to attend the Wednesday night service, Father Henry always met me with a big smile and a hug and wanted to know how the park was doing. He was gracious in every way, and you could sense his interest was genuine. I know he will be missed by your family and the Christ Church Anglican family. The courage and belief he exhibited during his illness will serve as an inspiration to all who were blessed to cross paths with him.
