Howard called me a "young whippersnapper" when I was 50 years old. We were obvisously in disageement. He reminded me of my father who I recently lost. Big O, Brother Dave and G.O., my heart goes out to you. Rail

My father and I were so glad that we were able to see Howard and visit with him in the nursing home earlier this month. He sure lived a GREAT life, and made some very substantial contributions to Cerro Gordo county, not only as a highly respected elected official, but as the real-life epitome of the American Dream. R. I. P., Mr. Oehlert; you will be missed.

Howard's opinions you may or may not have agreed with, but we all had to respect Howard in his desire to get us all to understand them. North Iowa must never forget the strength it took for Howard, Jigs, and Jim to get behind and support the North Iowa Fair Board and build many of the fine facilities at the Fairgrounds. Don't forget those that had vision, they're not here forever.
