MASON CITY - Irene M. Poshusta, 89, of Mason City, died Sunday (April 14, 2019) at Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday (April 18, 2019) at Epiphany Parish – St. Joseph Catholic Church, 302 5th St SE, Mason City, with The Rev. Jacob Rouse as Celebrant. Burial will follow in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City.
Visitation with public viewing will be held Wednesday evening (April 17, 2019) at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St NE, Mason City from 5 pm until 7 pm. The Rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm followed by a Scriptural Wake service.
Should friends desire, memorials may be left in Irene's name to Epiphany Parish or MercyOne North Iowa – Hospice.
Irene M. Carr was born on May 24, 1929, in Swea City, the daughter of Harold and Josephine (Krebsbach) Carr. She attended and graduated from Swea City High School among the class of 1946. Following her graduation she attended Hamilton School of Commerce in Mason City.
On June 23, 1951, Irene was united in marriage to Keith Poshusta at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Armstrong. Together they would be blessed with three children, John Joseph, Donna, and Ann.
Irene worked for Equitable Life of Iowa for 13 years. She also served as Secretary at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mason City; a position she held for 32 years until her retirement.
In her free time Irene loved spending time with her grandchildren and following their school activities. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and tending to her garden. She was a devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and enjoyed attending Daily Mass.
Those grateful in sharing in her life are her children, Donna (Bill Rynda) Poshusta, and Ann (Doug) Morse; grandchildren, Aaron, Abby, and Andrew Morse; siblings, Lorraine Koons, Kathryn Budach, and Maurice (Patricia) Carr; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends and neighbors.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Keith; son, John Joseph; sister, Laila Vaske; and deceased members of the Poshusta family, Howard, Jack, Mary Jane, and Donald.
