Joyce Faye Heen passed away peacefully on November 1, 2025, with her three daughters by her side. After fifteen years living with Parkinson's, she was ready to go home to heaven long before she actually did. At the end, she wondered - with characteristic wit - what was taking so long.
Born February 26, 1940, in Algoma, Iowa, Joyce Ostercamp grew up the youngest of seven on a Britt-area farm. She preferred outdoor chores to housework and talked her father into allowing her to go to college - something he thought wasted on a girl. After a year at Trinity in Chicago, she transferred to Lutheran Deaconess Hospital in Minneapolis, earning her nursing degree in 1962.
Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack. She is survived by her daughters, Sheila (John Richardson), Jill (Jason Grennan), and Stacy (Dan Lennon); grandchildren, Benjamin, Peter, Adelaide, Riley, Joseph, Jack, Olivia, Augustus, and Aoife; sister, Marie (Dean) Hiscocks; sister-in-law, Carolyn Ostercamp; brother-in-law, Ron Nielsen; and many nieces, nephews, and dear, dear friends.
Joyce lived with energy, grace, and good cheer. She served, she sacrificed, she laughed, and she loved. She is dearly, dearly missed.
Visitation 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home. Funeral 11 a.m. Thursday, November 13, 2025 at First Free Church, 3280 S. 84th St., Lincoln. Burial in Fairview Cemetery. Memorials to Cedar's Home for Children. Condolences: www.bmlfh.com.
