LuVerne Roberts Obituary
He was born Oct. 7, 1926, in London Township, Mower County, Minn., to Merlin and Emma (Johnson) Roberts. He attended school in London Township and then graduated from Austin High School in 1944.
LuVerne married Velmajean Kvale on Nov. 19, 1946, at London Lutheran Church. They farmed for a time in London Township before moving to Mitchell County, Iowa where they farmed for 48 years. Velmajean passed away on Aug. 2, 1999.
An active member of Mona Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar, LuVerne enjoyed going on outings and spending time with his family. He truly loved his 16 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren.
Survivors include three daughters, Nancy (John) Mickelson of Austin; Karen (Donald) Whalen of St. Ansgar; Linda (Terry) Mayer of St. Ansgar, Iowa; one son, Dale (Kathy) Roberts of Rockwell, Iowa; 16 grandchildren; and 41 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Velmajean; his parents Merlin and Emma Roberts, one brother and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Janurary 23, at Mona Lutheran Church with Pastor Lydia Mittag officiating.
Friends and family may call from 3-5 p.m. Sunday January 22, at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin, and at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment is at Woodbury Cemetery, rural Lyle.
Casket bearers are Jeffrey Whalen, Steven Thome, Bradley Mayer, Darrel Thome, Craig Whalen, Todd Blood, Bryan Mayer, Jonathan Roberts, and James Roberts.
