BELMOND-Patrick J. Quigley, 87, of Belmond, passed away on Monday, May 8, 2023 at Iowa Specialty Hospital in Belmond.
Funeral services for Pat Quigley will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Belmond with Father Jerry Blake officiating. Burial will follow at Belmond Cemetery.
Visitation for Pat Quigley will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 PM, with a Rosary beginning at 7:00, on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at Ewing Funeral Home, 111 Luick's Lane South in Belmond. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
Patrick John Quigley was born June 12, 1935 to Thomas John and Josephine Charlotte (Studebaker) Quigley in Belmond. He was the second eldest of ten children. He was raised and educated in Belmond, graduating from Belmond High School in 1953.
Pat was married to Dora Ann "Miki" Meleney on November 7, 1953. They made their home and raised their family in Belmond. Miki passed away on August 8, 2005.
Pat later married Judy (Nelsen) Burt on October 24, 2009 at the Little Brown Church.
Pat was a lifelong trucker, which also meant he was a mechanic and inventor. He will be remembered for building a truck from a kit and also one that ran on vegetable oil.
Pat and Judy wintered in Texas for a number of years. He enjoyed gardening and watching all the grandchildren grow up.
Pat is survived by his wife, Judy; son William (Sheryl) Quigley of Clear Lake; daughters Patricia (Scott) Ostermann of Woden and Pamela (Vern) Gifford of Dows; stepchildren Bennett (Deb) Gaulke and Natalie (Tony) McBride; grandchildren Megan (Andy) Hansen, Jessie Jo (Remington) Hill, Ryan (Chad) Bonte, Randi (John) Burt, Barry (Jess) Burt, Kim (Keith) Belsten, Patrick (Jess) Carstensen and Connor Carstensen, along with Judy's grandchildren Nathan (Rachelle) Gaulke, Lauren (Bryce) Schweitzer, Logan (Kendra) Gaulke, Colin McBride and Meghan McBride; 15 great-grandchildren; siblings Nancy Beenken, Theresa Trager, Rose (John) McGrand, Sue (Charlie) Followell, Carol (Brad) Fletcher, Steven (Ann) Quigley, Eugene (Diane) Quigley, Tom (Rosalie) Quigley and Frank Quigley; along with numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Miki; son Robert Quigley, in infancy; grandson Waylen Bonte, and twin grandsons Wade and Anthony Burt; sister-in-law Vicki Quigley; and brothers-in-law Russ Beenken and Duane Trager.
In lieu of flowers and other customary remembrances, Pat's family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to St. Croix Hospice and sent to their attention at Ewing Funeral Home, P.O. Box 301, Belmond, Iowa, 50421.
