Robert Cates Obituary
MASON CITY | Robert "Bob" Cates passed away at the Good Shepherd Care Center on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2015, at the age of 86.
Bob is survived by Fran Cates, his wife of 65 years, and his three daughters, Deborah (William) Foster of Mason City, Janalyn (Kevin) Helgeson of Clear Lake, Cathy (Tom) Gomez of Mason City; one son, Andrew Cates of Mason City; one brother, James (Rose) Cates of Okoboji; five grandchildren, Torey Foster, Chad Dirks, Carrie Shannon, Jason Cates and Joseph Cates; 13 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Bob was well-known for his time and expertise in the grocery business. He so enjoyed winning at card playing with the kids, bowling, golfing, and he taught and fixed many a golf swing to those he knew.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City, with Pastor Kathy Graves officiating.
Bob is predeceased in death by his parents, three sisters and three brothers.
