Thought you would like to know that the group you named is still going strong.
Everyone misses you a lot. You were always the life of the party! I really miss the cards you used to send. The ones you sent to Yuma when Jerry was ill were moral boosters.

I just recently found the Old Tattered Cookbook poem, and just learned of Roger's death. I found the poem in doing a search for that cookbook. My mom used it too, and I have long wanted to find it. I so enjoyed the poem. My Sister, Marilyn got Mom's copy. Anyway, so sorry to hear of Roger's death.
Your family has my deepest sympathy.

Dear Corell Family, I was so sad to hear about Roger's death, even though I never actually met him. He wrote a poem about a cookbook that had been my mother's favorite all through the years, and when I wrote him to thank him for the poem, he immediately sent me a laminated signed copy. I have it stored with the cookbook as a very special gift. I had not heard from Roger (he was always sending out wonderful poems with pictures that his wife had taken) since the floods earlier in the year. I had tried all the options I could think of to check on him and his family, but never was able to make a connection. I just wanted him to know how special his poems were....so often about everyday scenes and life, that we all tend to take for granted and never seem to appreciate. To you, his family, I send my deepest sympathy. I know what it is to lose a husband and father, and my thoughts and prayers are now with you. God's loving arms are surrounding you from my prayers and through this loss, you will be refined and strengthened for whatever purpose God has in store for each of you. I will miss those poems!!

With my deepest sympathy to the CORRELL family.

You do not know me, nor do I know Roger except through his wonderful writings of which I have read many. I live in Australia which just shows Roger's writings knew no boundaries and stretched across this world to touched many people.

Roger's words never ceased to touch you as you read them and his love of the Lord, and his family was always evident throughout.

Roger has been called to be with our Lord, but he is now at peace and one day you will all see him again.

Peace be with you all.

God bless you all.

With Deepest Sympathy to The Roger Corell Family

You don't know me and I have never even met Roger. I spoke to Roger on the phone last April when I finely got a telephone number and an address where he lived. I had to Thank HIm for the cards and kind words of encouragement he sent me while I was in St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester after my second cancer surgery. Apparently Roger had picked my name up from an e-mail and learned I had recently had two cancer surgerys the first one confining me to the hospital fort 57 days and the second for 39 days. He had sent me cards telling me to hang in there and that he was praying for me each day. I thought this was so kind of him even though we didn't know each other. During our telephone conversation I found out he was from north Iowa and so was I. My wife and I lived in Manly for about 45 years and then moved to Wisconsin to be near our children.
I appreciated so much Roger taking the time to encourage and pray for a complete stranger and I know his prayers did help and they sure gave me comfort during some difficult times. We are so sorry that such a loving caring man has been taken from his family and we extend our Heartfelt Sympathy. Our prayers willl now be with you as Roger's were with me. God Bless You All..

Sue
I am so very sorry to hear about your Dad. He was the same age as my Dad when he passed in July. They were way too young! It is so hard and your heart aches for them always! I know you and your father were close. Try to think of all the good memories you all had together as a family. Unfortunately, only time can make the pain lessen. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Give Michelle and your Mom my condolences also. Some day we will see our Dad's again!

How very shocked and saddened I was to hear of Roger's passing. We were together throughout our school years and were proud to be in the graduating class of '59. We will miss his many poems, emails, pictures, and tales of times gone by. He will be greatly missed by all.

The Corell Family,It saddened me to hear of Roger's passing.I had not seen Roger in person for many years, but felt as was always near with his e-mails and the poems and articles in the Nora Springs paper. It was always interesting to hear about the "old town gang" amd the history he knew about Nora Springs. He will be missed by all the people that he touched. As he closed all his e-mail with "Strive always to walk in the shoes of the Great Fisherman", He is now with the Great Fisherman.

What a gift so many of us had in knowing Roger. He touched the lives of so many people and always was the one who connected and kept others in contact. I will certainly miss him and his wonderful stories and all those e-mails. I am grateful that he was a part of my life since 1946...and I continue to smile when I remember all that he had done.

Dear Kathy & Family,
I was deeply saddened to hear of Rogers passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. He genuinely cared about his family and friends and it showed. We will all miss him!

Dear Suzie and family,

We are so sorry to hear of Roger's passing. We only knew of the man from your stories and yet we were so eager to meet him. We always knew meeting him would be a delight from the way you spoke of him. We are sorry we will never get the chance to met such a wonderful person, but we are so glad he graced your life with love and joy.

May god grant you strength and peace today as you lay to rest this gift from god. Know he loved you all and will be waiting patiently to see you all again. May God bless you all and see you though this difficult time to a new day when the sun will shine again, a man like him would want to see you happy and smiling again. Know that he is at peace and you will see him again soon.

Until then may God's peace be with you.

Kathleen and family,

I am shocked and deeply saddened to hear of Roger's passing. I met Roger at the Lake Crest Cafe in Clear Lake when I was 16. Even though I haven't seen him for over 45 years, he will always have a special place in my heart, and I will dearly miss his poetry on the internet. Surely he is still writing his poetry -- but now for the King of Kings.
I wish I could have been there for the memorial service.
My prayers are with you and your family.

Roger was a special person, whom I knew from school and church affiliation. We, classmates, met for the 46 club once a month during the summer months of the year and he had such a dry sense of humor and remembered things we had long forgotten. He was one of a kind who will be missed by all who knew him. Our sympathies are with his family at this sad time.

To Roger's family,
Words cannot express how deeply Roger will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known him. His mirthful laugh, gentle good humor, and joy of living were contagious. He truly valued his friendships, but the treasures of his life are his family; his wife, children and grandchildren more precious than fine gems!
I'm privileged to have some of his work on my websites. His stories and poetry reveal his myriad of interests in his life. Perhaps Rog's own words can bring more peace than any I might say.
Below are two excerpts from his heart:

Together Again

Friends forever, anchored in our hearts
Death distances, never parts
Passing of years, time will win
Back home to God, together again

The Poet Said

"Going home" the old Poet said and shed a little tear
The time spent was too short yet so glad I was here
And when you might think that you miss me much
Remember the words I wrote, the hearts I still touch

My thoughts and prayers remain with each of you. God Bless and remember....................

To all of Roger's family please accept our deepest sympathy. Roger was a good friend for 63 years since we first met in Sunday School and then entered first grade later that year. We never knew a person who had so many friends and was loved by so many as Rog. His family should be very proud knowing how many lives he touched during his time here on earth. I remember all the times he told of his great love for his family. His grandchildren were his joy. We will miss having coffee at Mac's and always going away feeling better for talking to him that day.

Dear Kathy and family of my good friend, Roger.
The sad news of Roger's passing has me remembering all the good things he has done for me since he found my name on the internet mail. What a joy it has been to know him and Kathy and to see all the beautiful photography of my very favorite spots around my "Old Home Town". He was in "Old Town" and I was in Shellville. We met at the Library, he told me.
Please convey my sympathy to his dear Mother, Lucille. She did a great job of raising such a thoughtful son.
