Samantha Jo Vining was born on June 20, 1993, to Dan and Teresa (Jensen) Vining in Mason City.
Her bubbly, fun and, yes, sometimes rebellious personality shone brightly as a student at Jefferson Elementary and John Adams Middle School.
One of our favorite stories about Samantha is the one in which she and her sister Alyssa shared a paper route. One day, the two got in a little disagreement, threw their papers in the snow and called it a day.
Before her eighth-grade year, she moved to Forest City. At first, she was shy but as she found her footing, she grew into a vibrant young woman.
She graduated from Forest City High School in 2011 and entered the nursing program at NIACC. She showed persistence and determination and was scheduled to take part in the Dec. 11 pinning ceremony.
Samantha had a smile that lit up the world. She loved the residents and co-workers at Good Sam in Forest City, where she was employed for the past three years. She also loved to read, watch movies and hang out with her friends.
A wonderful daughter, a great sister and the one-and-only "Mimi," she will be dearly missed by all of us.
Samantha is survived by her father, Dan?Vining, Greene; mother and step-father, Teresa and Bob Fenske, New Hampton; sisters, Danielle Vining and her fiancé Roscoe Garlick, Blue Earth, Minn., and Alyssa Vining and special friend Adrian Silva, Iowa City; stepsister, Abagail Harnack, of Minneapolis; stepbrothers Josh and Noah Fenske, New Hampton; maternal grandparents, Jim and Bev Jensen, Charles City; uncles, Scott (Sara) Jensen, Charles City, and Shannon (Tina) Jensen, Decorah; aunts, Sally (Tracy) Starr, Clear Lake, Cindy Jensen, Greene, Sue Smith, Charles City, Tammy (Jon) Lueth, Cedar Falls, and Karla (Trey) Hicks, Luling, Texas; numerous cousins; friend, Zach Fritz; and one very special nephew, Brayden James Vining, Blue Earth, Minn.
