Steven Muller Obituary
A Celebration of Life Service for Steven David will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, at the Clear Lake United Methodist Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Bernie Colorado officiating.
Visitation will be 5-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, and also one hour before the service at the church. Following the service he will be cremated and inurnment will take place later in the Clear Lake Cemetery.
Family suggests remembrances, which will be used to honor the memory, and spirit, of Steven David.
Steven was born June 8, 1983, in Algona, the son of Steven L. and Kathy N. (Ostrander) Muller. He graduated from Clear Lake High School in 2001, North Iowa Area Community College in 2003, and the University of Northern Iowa in 2005, summa cum laude, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. While attending the University of Northern Iowa, he received several awards for his exhibited artwork. He continued his education at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, working on his Master of Fine Arts. He was happily employed as a graphic designer by L.R.G. of Irvine, Calif., where he was loved, and respected.
Steven enjoyed bicycling, skating, hiking, and being with his family; his greatest passion was his artwork. His philosophy in life was that everyone should be treated fairly, maintaining personal responsibility, in return.
Steven is survived by his parents, Steve and Kathy Muller, Clear Lake; sister, Alyssa Muller, Clear Lake; fiancée, Amanda Hunter, Lake Forest, Calif.; maternal grandmother, Alma Ostrander, Clear Lake; paternal grandparents, Lyle and Joyce Muller, Emmetsburg; aunts and uncles, Nancy and Jack Brown, Clear Lake, Kathy and Arnie Heng, Cylinder, and Denny Muller, Bedford, Texas, and many other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, David L. Ostrander.

I wanted to offer my condolences to all who knew and loved Steven. I too work at the Hospital that Steven was taken to after his accident and was one of the many who worked so hard to save him. I was with him when he passed and remained so for some time after sending him all of the love and prayers I could. He was never alone and cared for as though he was one of our own. Though I never had the privelege to meet him before the accident I feel a strong connection with him and think of him almost every day. It is nice to learn a little more about a man who touched so many people both in life and in death.

Dear family of Steven,
My heartfelt sympathies over your loss of such a young man. I work at the hosptial where Steven was brought to following the accident. We prayed for him and my friends stayed with him and prayed after his passing...he was never alone. We all prayed and will remember all of you and Steven. Such a young life to be taken so quickly, but please know, he was never alone. So many staff members took to pray when they could not physically be where he was in the hospital. Love & prayers to you all.
