Verna LaVonne Sporing, 89, of Mason City, Iowa, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2024 surrounded by her loved ones.
A funeral service will be held 10:30 AM, Friday July 12, 2024 at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St. NE, Mason City, IA 50401. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. She will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City.
Verna was born November 3, 1934, in Eden Township, Iowa; daughter of Benjamin and Minnie (Walle) Hauge. She graduated from Albert Lea High School. She later went on to train as a medical aide in home health. She worked as a medicine aide for a number of years outside of Redfield and surrounding areas. After thirty years of hard work; she retired in 1999. Verna was united in marriage to Charles "Charlie" Sporing July 17, 1955 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They renewed their vows following their 50th wedding anniversary. Their union was blessed with two children, Charles Jr. and Linda.
She and Charlie enjoyed fishing and camping together; especially up around Madison Lake in Minnesota. They took their chances getting away whenever they could. Spending time with family and friends meant a great deal to her. The little time she spent at home she enjoyed watching game shows and tuning into Animal Planet.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Charles Jr. (Marilyn) Sporing of Kensett, Iowa and Linda (Mike) Casey of Mason City; grandchildren, Kristin Sporing, Kendra (Bob), Michael Casey Jr., and Melinda Hoffman; great grandchildren, Violet Casey, Autumn Casey, Aleah Hoffman, Trever Hoffman, and Declan; sister-in-law, Mary Formanek; as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
Preceding her in death are her husband, Charlie; parents Benjamin and Minnie; and siblings, Orville, Clifford, Donovan, Vera Hoehn, and Marilyn.

VERNA WAS MY SISTER IN LAW MARRIED TO MY BROTHER CHARLIE.I WAS A MAID OF HONOR AT THEIR WEDDING AND 50 YEARS Later HAD THE HONOR OF BEING HER BRIDES MAID AGAIN WHEN THEY RENEWED THEIR VOWS. I REMEMBER VERNA HER QUICK WHIT AND HER GREAT MEMORIES AND HER SENCE OF HUMOR. HER CONCERN AND THOUGHTFULL NESS FOR ME AT CHARLIES FUNERAL.FAMILY WAS HER LIFE. GOD SURELY GAVE HER WINGS TO FLY TO HER HEAVENLY FATHER. REST IN PEACE VERNA YOUR LIFE ON EARTH WAS DONE
