Ann Wright of Danville, Va. died on Sunday, January 31, 2021 of COVID-19. She was born on August 20, 1926 in Gibsonville, N.C. to Harry and Roxie Stuart.

She was married to the Rev. Thomas Edgar Wright who pastored many churches in the Danville\Pittsylvania County area. She is survived by her sons, Dennis Wright (Brenda) of Newport News, Va., the Rev. Jeffrey Wright (Darlene) of Danville, Va., Stephen Wright (Linda) of Franklin, Va., and Chris Wright (Mary Jo) of Danville, Va. Eight grandchildren and a multitude of great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and all of her siblings.

Ann started teaching in public schools while still a college student. She taught in Portsmouth and Danville Public Schools for 28 years. She walked daily and swam regularly at the YMCA for 45 years. She started new Sunday School classes at many churches where her husband served. She was the author of eight books and was planning a new book. She oil painted throughout her adult life. As an adult, she learned to play the piano and organ. She went on many mission trips in different countries. She traveled to every state in the nation and to six of the seven continents. She said her greatest regret was that she did not travel more.

Her church and her faith were always important to her. As a child she had perfect church attendance and until her death made sure she got her tithe to her church each week.

A graveside service will be held at Danville Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at 11 a.m. conducted by the Rev. Jonathan Hillard. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make contributions to your favorite charity.

Mrs. Wright was a joy. She was my middle school teacher. When I worked on the air with WAKG, she called to let me know she listened, and was so proud of me. She always interjected humor in the classroom. Fond memories of such a special lady. My condolences to her family.
