Avicia Thorpe Obituary
Mrs. Avicia Beatrice Hooper Thorpe, 112, of 508 Rison St., Danville, Va., passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 24, 2020, at the Stratford Health and Rehabilitation Center in Danville, Va.
Born April 16, 1908 in Schoolfield, Va., she was the daughter of the late Rev. Reuben Hooper Sr. and Mrs. Priscilla Nash Hooper Graves. She was married to the late Rev. C.M. Thorpe, a Veteran of World War I.
Survivors include a great-niece, Dr. Adele Allen of Brooklyn, N.Y. and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by one sister, Mary H. Lawson.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, December 31, 2020, at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Fisher and Watkins Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the National Cemetery, Danville, Va. Due to the constraints of public gatherings during the COVID-19 outbreak, a viewing will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 from 6 to 8 p.m. from Fisher and Watkins Funeral Home with a limit of 10 people at a time, masks and social distancing are required.
