Barbara Manheim Obituary

UNION HALL - Mrs. Barbara Levy Manheim, age 69, of 738 Dodee Lane, Union Hall and formerly of Danville, died Monday, July 16, 2007 at Danville Regional Medical Center. She had been a patient in the hospital for the past week.
She was a beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, Nana, and friend, and she never met a stranger. She was a humanitarian and former Danville businesswoman, who loved tennis, gardening, and wintering in Naples, Fla.
Mrs. Manheim was born in Patterson, N.J. on March 17, 1938. She was the daughter of the late Emanuel Levy and Shirley Latman Levy.
She was an active member of Temple Beth Shalom.
Mrs. Manheim is survived by her husband, of the home, Dr. Arnold Manheim; children, Lee Manheim and his wife, Stephanie P. Manheim, of Richmond, John Manheim of Los Angeles, Hilary M. Epstein and her husband, Steven Epstein, of Baltimore, and Seth Manheim and his wife, Colette C. Manheim, of Richmond; a brother, Alcan Levy, of Long Island, N.Y.; and a cousin, Allen Rubenstein, of Los Angeles. Also surviving are seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 17 from the graveside at Aetz Chayim cemetery by Para Rabbinic Jo Ann Howard.
The family requests that memorials may be directed to Hadassah, c/o Jo Ann Howard, 326 Rosemary Lane, Danville, VA 24541.
The family will receive friends immediately after the service at the home of Sam and Faye Kushner, 121 Newbury Way, Danville.
Townes Funeral Home, 215 West Main St., is in charge of arrangements for the Manheim family.

Barbara was a truly unique lady who brought wisdom with a dose of humility and hilarity to every situation. It was a privilege to have known her and worked with her many years ago at DMRC. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her and those of us who were fortunate enough to have known her.
