Betty Hill Obituary

Betty Oakes Hill, 90, of Danville, VA passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2025 at Roman Eagle Rehabilitation and Health Care after a decline in health.

Betty was born in Danville, VA on February 17, 1935, a daughter of the late James Carlton Oakes and Maggie Morgan Oakes. Betty graduated from Brosville High School and lived most of her life in Danville.

Betty was married to the late Robert Lee "Bobby" Hill. She was a devoted wife to Bobby for over 40 years until his passing in 2001. Betty had a great love for her family and devotion to church.

In addition to her husband and her parents, Betty was predeceased by a brother, J. Marvin Oakes; her twin sister, Barbara Ann Oakes; sister-in-law, Barbara D. Oakes and nephew, James M. Oakes, Jr.

Survivors include her nephew, Michael T. Oakes (Michelle) of Fernandina Beach, FL; great-niece, Natalie A. Oakes of Boston, MA and great-nephew, Ryan J. Oakes of Alpharetta, GA and their mother, Brenda Oakes, of Alpharetta, GA.

A graveside service will be conducted on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Danville Memorial Gardens with Pastor Wade Rowland officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the Wrenn-Yeatts Funeral Home, Westover Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to God's Pit Crew, 2499 North Main Street, Danville, VA 24540.
