Cabell Montgomery Obituary


DANVILLE, Va. - Cabell Montgomery, 90, of 195 Southern Street, died Friday, Sept. 19, 2003 at Piney Forest Health Care Center.

Born Aug. 7, 1913 in Brookneal, Va., he was the son of Will Montgomery and Jenny Brown Montgomery.

He lived most of his life in the Danville area and had resided on Southern Street since Aug. 13, 2001.

He retired at age 62 from Dan River Mills and also farmed.

He was a member of Stovall Baptist Church.

He was married to Marie Betterton Montgomery, who predeceased him.

He is survived by one daughter, Amy Montgomery Saunders of Danville; two sons, Roy N. Montgomery of Cascade and Cabell Benny Montgomery of Danville; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Highland Burial Park with the Rev. Walter Yancey officiating.

The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday at Swicegood Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the residence of his daughter, 139 Brook Circle.

Swicegood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

May GOD be with you (Roy, Benny and Amy) Peggy left me a message while I was in Danville that she plans to attend service Sunday. I saw on the Internet that Beck was notified.
