Mr. Dan Witcher, 83, of 601 N. Flint Hill Road, Chatham, Virginia, departed this life on Tuesday, February 5, 2019, at Chatham Health and Rehab. Born January 8, 1936 in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of the late John Witcher and Hannah Reynolds Witcher. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Willie Richard and Jonah Witcher; and four sisters, Jannie Shelton, Nannie Bell Witcher, Lizzie Brown and Addie Lee Pannell. Mr. Witcher was last employed by W. L. Davis Logging. Those left to cherish his memories are one sister, Linner "MaLent" Witcher Starling of Chatham, Virginia; two devoted friends, Bobby Jones and Steve Woods; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A celebration of life for Mr. Witcher will be conducted on Saturday, February 9, 2019, at 2 p.m. at the Macedonia Baptist Church with the Rev. Walter J. Coles, presiding and Pastor MacArthur Myers Sr., eulogist. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday. Miller Funeral Home, Gretna is in charge of the arrangements.
