Dawn Stroud Obituary
November 7, 1959 - September 16, 2024
Dawn Thompson Stroud, 64, of Bristol, Virginia, quietly passed away at her home surrounded by family on Monday, September 16th, 2024.
She was born on November 7, 1959, one of 7 children born to the late Harold W. Thompson, Sr., and the late Gloria Ann Sigmon Thompson of Danville, Virginia.
Dawn attended George Washington High School, where she met and married the love of her life, Stephen W. Stroud, during her senior year. They had a wonderful marriage that lasted 46 years.
Dawn worked at Schewels Furniture Store in Bristol, Virginia, as an Office Manager until her retirement due to health problems in December 2023.
She is survived by her husband, Stephen, 65, of Bristol, Virginia; a son, Michael B. Stroud of Portland, Oregon; two brothers, Timothy R. Thompson of Dry Fork, VA, and James Steven Thompson of Danville, VA; three sisters, Rebecca T. Spencer of Danville, VA, Pamela T. Spencer of Ringgold, VA, and Joy T. Bates of Ringgold, VA, as well as two sisters-in-law, Sandra S. Smith of Danville, VA and Suzanne S. Shelton of Danville, VA, in addition to many extended family members and friends who mourn her loss.
There will not be a public service. Instead of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Dawn's name to the American Cancer Society or your nearest animal shelter.

I got to know Dawn working with her in Bristol. She was funny, hardworking,
organized,opinionated and outspoken but most of all she had a loving heart.
Steve and Brandon were her world, she talked about you both all of the time and you could feel the love she felt for each of you. Prayers for Steve, Brandon and all of Dawn's family and friends.
