Eddie Vaden Obituary

Eddie Grover Vaden of Nashville, Tennessee, died Thursday, September 10, 2015, at his home.Born December 19, 1935, in Danville, he was the son of Grover A. Vaden and Mattie Ingram Vaden, both deceased. Eddie graduated from George Washington High School in Danville, and attended the University of Virginia. He served in the United States Air Force four years as math and surveying instructor at ERDL, Fort Belvoir, Virginia. Eddie retired in 1992 after thirty years of employment with the Prudential Insurance Company of America. He was a member of Bellevue United Methodist Church in Nashville, where he has served as Membership Secretary for a number of years, and was a member of the History and Archives Committee.Survivors include his wife of fifty-six years, Sylvia Dameron Vaden; daughter, Melinda V. Tate and husband, Miles of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; daughter, Dr. Laurel V. Alsentzer and husband, John of Nashville, Tennessee; daughter, Amy V. Biagini of Franklin, Tennessee; three sisters, Lillian Vaden, Mary V. Goodman and her husband, Otha, and Nan Vaden Cahill Davidson; brother-in-law Vincent Oglesby, all of Danville; and six grandchildren, Nick Tate and wife, Lindsay, Natalie T. Gay and husband, Kearney, Dr. Andy Alsentzer, Robbie Alsentzer, Emily Alsentzer, and Joey Biagini. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Oglesby; and a brother, Herman Vaden.A Memorial Service will be held at Bellevue United Methodist Church in Nashville on Sunday, September 13, 2105, at 2 p.m., with visitation beginning at 1 p.m.Memorial Donations may be made to the PKD Foundation (www.pkdcure.org), Prevent Blindness (www.preventblindness.org), and the Autistic Self Advocacy Network (www.autisticadvocacy.org).
