Elijah Stone Sr., 87, formerly of 231 Locust Lane and a resident of Riverside Health Care Danville, Va., passed away Saturday, January 27, 2017, at Kindred Hospital, Greensboro, N.C. He was born May 29, 1929, in Pittsylvania County, to the late Sally Jane Stone and the late John Stone. He retired as a school bus driver after over 20 years of service to both Pittsylvania County and Danville City Schools. He was married to Queen Terry Stone, who survives, of the residence. Mr. Stone was a member of New Mine Creek Primitive Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, Mr. Stone is survived by two daughters, Marilyn Fitzgerald and Brenda Carter; and three sons, Elijah Stone Jr., Michael John Stone and wife, Brenda and Jimmy Lewis Stone and wife, Phyllis, all of Danville, Va. He is also survived by a brother, Moses Stone of Baltimore, Md.; 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Stone was predeceased by a son, Roosevelt Stone; two sisters, five brothers and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at New Mine Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Keisha Walker Averett officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Burial Park, Danville. The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 31, 2017, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Norris Funeral Services, Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, Va. and at other times at the residence, 231 Locust Lane, Danville, Va. Norris Funeral Services, Inc. & Crematory, Mt.
