Helen Wanger Shelton

Helen Wanger Shelton of Tightsqueeze, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2021, at the age of 76. She was born on March 1, 1945, to the late Philip Wanger and the late Helen Giles Wanger in Savannah, Georgia. She is survived by her husband, Henry C. Shelton.

Helen was a member of Concord United Methodist Church and sang in the choir. She was also in charge of social and other church activities. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Jeff Shelton (Wendy Gilbert), David Shelton (Ami Shelton), and Deborah King (Willie King); her brother, Gary Wanger; and her grandchildren, Dustin Shelton, Brittany Shelton, Jarrod Shelton, Angela Shelton, Megan King, and Lauren King.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 6, 2021, at Concord United Methodist Church with the Reverend Tobias Lutz officiating. A visitation will be held from 6:30 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at Scott Funeral Home. Interment will be on Thursday at Concord United Methodist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Concord United Methodist Church Building Fund (2880 Concord Rd, Chatham, Virginia, 24531).
