YANCEYVILLE, N.C.

It is with profound sorrow we announce the death of one of our pillars of Caswell County, Mr. John Wesley Fulton, age 93, of 73 East Main Street, Yanceyville, North Carolina, who went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday morning, February 22, 2022, at Duke University Hospital, Durham, North Carolina.

Mr. John Wesley Fulton was one of six siblings born June 25, 1928, to the late Frank Fulton and Flaxie Harris Fulton in Farmville, N.C. He was a graduate from Farmville Colored High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army WWII stationed in Okawa, Japan. Upon completion of his tour of duty, Mr. Fulton attended and received high honors from both Gupton-Jones Mortuary College in Nashville Tennessee and Cleveland Mortuary College in Cleveland, Ohio.

Mr. John Wesley Fulton was united in holy matrimony on July 4, 1956 to the love of his life, Miss Juanita Stokes. He was not only a funeral director and a mortician, but also served Caswell County and the surrounding counties as a 24-hour ambulance driver. Mr. Fulton owned and operated Fulton Funeral Home in Yanceyville for over 63 years.

Mr. John Wesley Fulton served on the board of directors of First State Bank and was a member of the following, Caswell County Credit Union, Leasburg Masonic Lodge 648, Zion Baptist Church in Reidsville, N.C., Central District of Funeral Directors & The Morticians Association of N.C., National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), and the Caswell County Planning Board.

Mr. Fulton was the last of his generation. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Juanita Stokes Fulton; his three sisters, Lucretia Fulton, Juanita Fulton Johnson and Mary Frances Ford; his two brothers, Eli Fulton and Glenn Fulton.

Mr. Fulton will be greatly missed but his legacy will continue through his godson, Quenton Walton and the Fulton-Walton Funeral Home staff.

Mr. John Wesley Fulton leaves to cherish his precious memories to his nieces, Bernita Johnson-Gabriel of Chicago, Illinois, Mazetta " Zet" Ford-Medina of Trumball, Connecticut, Rita Ford of Silver Spring, Maryland, and Karamah Khashiun of Apopka, Florida; one brother-in-law, Cecil C. Stokes of Baltimore, Maryland; nieces and nephew, Adell S. Edmonds (James) of Halifax, Virginia, Sylvia S. Diedhiou (Regisse) of Catonsville, Maryland, Barbara S. Worsham of Randallstown, Maryland, Cecilia Stokes of Baltimore, Maryland, Linda Stokes of Baltimore, Maryland, Renee S. Taylor (Theodore) of Columbus, Georgia, and Michael Stokes (Anita) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; his devoted godson, Quenton Walton (Janette) of Elon, North Carolina, a host of great-nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A viewing will be on Saturday, February 26, 2022, from 5 until 7 p.m. in the Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.

Mr. John Wesley Fulton will lie in repose from 12:30 until 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 27, 2022, at the Caswell County Civic Center in Yanceyville, N.C. Funeral services for Mr. John Wesley Fulton will be held Sunday, February 27, 2022, at 2 p.m. at the Caswell County Civic Center in Yanceyville, N.C. Interment and committal will be held Monday, February 28, 2022, 12 p.m. in the Sunset Memorial Park, Farmville, N.C. (PER CDC GUIDELINES: FACIAL MASKS ARE REQUIRED FOR ALL SERVICES).
