I first met Leanza when she visited Appalachia High School when her dad "Dickie" served as assistant principal. In addition to being beautiful, she was "beautiful" person in that she was warm, friendly, direct, open, and "down to earth" in dealing with groups of students or the individual one on one. She made every attempt to connect with those with whom she was speaking. Also she was a gifted, talented musician and singer. For example, she san the theme from "The Little Mermaid" acapella with perfect itch and excellent diction and intonation. She was genuine.
Suck people are rare and quite scarce in our modern world.
This world has lost a real treasure in Leanza and a beautiful shining light which many people would follow, especially those who are young and choose to be genuine, warm, and inspiring people. This world was a far better place when she was a part of it, and her influence, talent, and beauty will leave a positive influence on this modern world for time eternal. I send my sincere condolences to her family, especially her sons and her parents.
I shall miss her.

Leanza and I did shows together at the Alhambra and Theatre Jax when we were just starting out several years ago. Throughout her career, Leanza was such an inspiration to many who knew her, including myself. When we reconnected years later, she was such a proud mom telling me all about her amazing boys. My prayers and condolences are with Leanza's family.

I knew Leanza from a Church near her home Bethesda Temple...I played piano often with her...I lived her friends as well...She was really wonderful.. She loved Theme from Romeo and Juliet on the piano

I had the honor to work with Leanza at the Voyage of the Little Mermaid show when it opened. She was kind, witty, brillant,talented, loving, caring and humble. I am so glad that we met and I will not only miss but look forward to seeing her again. Rest in peace, Leanza. Love you

We are so shocked and saddened to hear of Leanza's accident and untimely passing. I knew some people who knew her personally, and in her heyday (both here in Jax in the summer musicals and on much bigger stages), they all said the same thing about her - that none of her successes ever went to her head. Our hearts are broken for her family and friends. You cannot imagine how many people are grieving with you. All we can do is pray that God will comfort you all as only He can. Know that He has welcomed her Home and she is safe always.

I remember seeing Leanza on Entertainment Tonight many years ago as she was introduced as a formed Miss America and married cohost Mark Steines shortly thereafter. I was very saddened and somewhat grief stricken to read of her untimely passing. My sincere condolences to her former spouse and surviving loved ones. Rest in Peace, Leanza.
