Lewis Guill
July 26, 1944 - December 23, 2025
Lewis Elvin Guill, the husband of the late Myrtie Anne Baise Guill and father of Ronald Elvin Guill (late Henry H Downing Jr.) of Richmond, VA, passed away on December 23, 2025, after a lengthy illness. Born on July 26, 1944, Lewis was the son of the late Edna Belle H.G. Brown and Lester Elvin Guill. Along with his late wife, parents, and grandparents, Robert A. Guill and Mary Elizabeth Woodson Guill. Charlie Hall, and Celestia Dix Hall, Lewis is also predeceased by two sons, Robert Lester Guill and Timmothy John Guill;
Lewis spent much of his childhood in Halifax, VA, under his mother's loving care. When Lewis was a teenager, his mother remarried, and she and Lewis relocated to Providence, North Carolina.
Additionally, Lewis is survived by one brother, Gary Keith Brown (Renee), and a nephew, David K. Brown of Providence. He is also predeceased by brother, Harry Thorton Brown (Nanette).
Lewis was a member of Pelham United Methodist Church, the Methodists' Men's prayer group, and the Friends' prayer group in Danville. Lewis retired from Goodyear Industry and was very dedicated to his family. He also enjoyed working on antiques, vintage mowers, ornamental antique heaters, and gardening.
Lewis is a direct descendant of Dr. John and Sarah Woodson, who landed in Jamestown, Colonial Virginia, in 1617, making him a member of Virginia's First Families.
Ronald, Lewis's son, would like to thank his late Uncle John D. Baise, Garry Underwood, Thomas W. Combs III, Jeffrey and Priscilla Womack, Preston Chatham, Larry, and Kimberly Hamlett for visiting his father and assisting him with errands, doctor visits, and many other things. These kind actions allowed him to remain in the family home for as long as possible.
Instead of having a visitation at Swicegood's Funeral Home, the family visitation will be on Saturday, January 10, 2025, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Pelham United Methodist Church, 594 Red Marshall Rd, Pelham, NC. The service will follow at 2 p.m. Interment will immediately follow the service. Everyone is invited to walk to the graveside and pay their final respects to the family-Rev. Dr. Anne Conover and Rev. Cameron Conover will be officiating the service and interment.
