Lynwood Compton Obituary
April 2, 1939 - October 11, 2021
Lynwood "Lynn" Carroll Compton, 82, Danville, Va., died on Monday, October 11, 2021 at Sovah Health in Danville after being in declining health for several months.
Lynn was born in Pittsylvania County, Va. on April 2, 1939, a son of the late Major Lee Compton and Ellen Mae Jones Compton. He spent all of his life in the Danville and Pittsylvania County areas where he was the business center manager at Good Year Tire and Rubber until his retirement after 33 years of service. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was also a member of the American Legion Post 325. He was of the Baptist faith. In his spare time, he enjoyed racing, football and working on antique cars.
On August 10, 1967 he married, Elaine Goggin Compton who survives of the residence.
In addition to his wife, Lynn is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by a brother, Melvin Lee Compton Sr.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at 2 p.m. at the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel with the Reverend Michael Wiles and the Reverend Luis Beltre officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home and at others times they will be at the residence.

I´m so sad to hear of Lynn´s passing. I got to know Lynn when I hired into Goodyear-Danville in 1978. He was a excellent leader, I learned a lot from him as did many others. Be assured the family is in our thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time.
