Newton Doss Obituary

GRETNA, Va. - Newton Clay "Sugarman" Doss, age 76, of 2741 Toshes Road, Chatham died Wednesday, August 24, 2005 at Gretna Health Care Center.
Born October 26, 1928, in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Henry Clay Doss and Sarah Barbour Doss. He was predeceased by two brothers, Hollis Doss and Wilsie Doss Sr.; one sister, Beatrice Doss Mayhew, and one infant child, Glen Henry Doss. Mr. Doss was a member of New Bethel Church of the Brethren, a retired bulldozer operator with Bolling Brothers, and was a retired farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Watson Doss of the residence; two sons and daughters-in-law, Alan and Patricia Doss of Chatham, and Phillip and Teresa Doss of Hurt; four grandchildren, Samantha Alan Doss, Taylor Nicole Doss, Jacob Evan Doss, and Jody Paul Rowland.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 26, 2005 at New Bethel Church of the Brethren by the Rev. Leo Johnson and Mickey Witcher, Minister. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
Colbert-Moran Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
