Richard Elliott

May 2, 1978 - March 5, 2022

Richard Anthony Elliott of Danville, Va., passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2022, after two years of declining health. He was born on May 2, 1978, in Halifax County, Va., to Shelby Crews Elliott and the late Richard Randolph Elliott. He married Deidre Doss of Danville, Va., on August 12, 2002.

Richard was a 1996 graduate of Halifax County High School. He was employed by Ennis, Inc. in Chatham, Va. for over 22 years. Richard enjoyed fishing, woodworking, online gaming, and building firearms.

In addition to his father, Richard was predeceased by grandparents, Ruth and Harrell Crews and Upton and Ruby Elliott; a sister, Rhonda Bowes Stone; several uncles, aunts, and cousins; stepmother-in-law, Ann Doss; and fur babies, Max, Caesar, and Nikki.

Surviving Richard are his wife, Deidre; mother, Shelby Elliott; sister, Lora Bowes and friend, Mike Green; brother, Randy Elliott and husband, Jason Grove; mother-in-law, Betty Jefferson; father-in-law, Donnie Doss; special cousins, Janet and Jake Davis; sister-in-law, Deborah Seward and husband, Mark; nieces, Erica Stone, Katie Bowes, Stephany Bowes, and Kaity Seward; nephews, Dylan Grove and Hunter Seward; great-nephews, a great-nephew and great-niece on the way, several more aunts, uncles, and cousins, and several close friends. Richard also leaves behind his "baby girls", their Yorkies, Annie and Katie.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at Norris Funeral Services, Mt. Hermon Chapel, 3995 Franklin Turnpike, Danville, VA 24540, with the Reverend Ryan Riley officiating. The burial will follow the service at the Doss family cemetery in Museville, Va.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at the funeral home and at other times at the residence.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations to be made to the Danville-Pittsylvania Cancer Association, 223 Riverview Drive., Suite J, Danville, VA 24541.
