Mr. Robert Burton Scearce, age 78, of Danville, Virginia, passed away on Friday, September 3, 2021, at SOVAH Health-Danville.

Mr. Scearce was born on October 6, 1942, in Derry, Pennsylvania, to the late Charles Burton Scearce and Winifred Clare Forsyth Scearce. He was employed with the City of Danville Water & Gas Department, Danville Fire Department. He was also employed as a truck driver with Penske for many years and later went to work with JRayl Transport. Mr. Scearce was married to Annette Williams Scearce who preceded him in death and served his country in the U.S. Airforce. He was also a member of Roman Eagle Masonic Lodge #122.

Mr. Scearce is survived by his sons, Burton Scearce (Andrea) and Paul Scearce; grandchildren, Grace Scearce (Kalure Preston) and Gage Randall; great-grandchild, Kace Preston; and brother, Charles Scearce.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Scearce was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Annette Williams Scearce; and siblings, Cathy Farley, Deanna Weiss, James Patrick Scearce and Patricia Rust.

Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, September 11, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Danville Memorial Gardens with Dr. Charles Scearce and the Reverend James Mayes officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday evening, September10, 2021, from 6 until 7:30 p.m. at Swicegood Funeral Home. Military Honors will be conducted by the U.S. Airforce and American Legion Post 1097.
