Thomas Webster Obituary

PROVIDENCE, N.C. - Thomas Lee Webster, 82, of 7990 Old Highway 86 North, died suddenly Tuesday, March 14, 2006, at Moses Cone Hospital, Greensboro.
He was born in Caswell County, Feb. 3, 1924 to Troy S. and Annie Sue Holt Webster. He attended Caswell County schools and completed his education while serving in the U.S. Navy. He served in the Navy for 30 years, 23 on active duty and seven years in the Naval Reserves. He served in the Navy during World War II, Korea, the Cuba Bay of Pigs Invasion, and Vietnam. After retiring from the service he was employed as a rural mail carrier by the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church and Beulah Baptist Church.
The funeral service will be on Friday, March 17, at 2 p.m. at Harrelson Funeral Service Chapel, conducted by the Rev. John Gentry and Father Charles L. Wood. Interment will be in Yanceyville United Methodist Church Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Nannie Barker Webster, of the home; three daughters, Margie Miller Foster and husband, H.B. Foster, of Providence, Lelia Webster Shelton and husband, Sammy Shelton, of Yanceyville, and Angel Miller Soyars and husband, Robert Soyars, of Providence. Also surviving are sisters, Carol Lewis of Providence, Evelyn Worley of Pelham, Bera Huff of Danville and Dorothy Butts of Purley; brothers Henry Webster of Providence and Herbert Webster of Danville; and one grandchild.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Webster was predeceased by a son-in-law, Leroy Miller, and brothers, Dodson Webster and Leonard Webster.
The family received friends Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Harrelson Funeral Service, Yanceyville, and other times at the residence.
Military graveside rites will be conducted by Danville American Legion Post 1097. Masonic rites will be offered by Lodge 11.
Harrelson Funeral Service is assisting the Webster family.
