William Clyde Riggins, Sr., 86, of 236 Oak Lane, Ruffin, N.C. died April 30, 2016, while a patient at Annie Penn Hospital, Reidsville, N.C.Born on March 6, 1930, to the late Mary Hodge Riggins and the late Kelly Lucas Riggins, he was married to the late Nellie Marie Riggins. Mr. Riggins was an avid fisherman and worked for many years as a marine mechanic. He was especially proud of the fact that he was selected as the #1 Marine Mechanic for the National Capital Area for 10 consecutive years. He was also an Army veteran and served in the 82nd Airborne Division. He was of the Protestant faith.Mr. Riggins is survived by two daughters, Lucinda M. Haywood and husband, Harry of Bowie, Md., and Gayl H. Harper and husband, Rodney of Danville; three sons, Randall W. Riggins and wife, Nina of Axton, William C. Riggins, Jr. and wife, Helen of Orlando, Fla., and John W. Riggins and wife, Susan of Ruffin, N.C. He is also survived by two sisters, Ann Hughes of Pulaski, Va., and Nancy Jones of Maryland, as well as 13 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.In addition to his wife and parents, he is predeceased by a son, Kelly M. Riggins, two sisters, and three brothers.Funeral services for Mr. Riggins will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2016, 12p.m. at Norris Funeral Services, West End Chapel, Danville, with Captain Karl Dahlin of the Salvation Army Corps officiating. Interment will follow at 4 p.m. at Draper Valley Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Pulaski, Va.The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30 p.m., Friday, May 6, 2016, at Norris Funeral Services, West End Chapel, Danville, Va. and at other times at 236 Oak Lane, Ruffin, N.C.Norris Funeral Services, Inc. and Crematory, West End Chapel, 511 Church Ave. Danville is serving the family.
