Barbara Weiss Obituary

Barbara Horn Barr-Weiss, 83, of Broomfield, Colorado, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on November 3, 2025, in Louisville, Colorado, from complications related to COPD.
Barbara was born on April 2, 1942, in Granite City, Illinois, to Harriet Warfield Horn and Ray Horn. She grew up in Granite City alongside her brother, Eric (Rick) Horn, and cherished her lifelong friendships there.
After graduating from Granite City High School, Barbara began her career at the First Granite City National Bank and later worked at the Madison County Courthouse in the Treasurer's Office, where she served with dedication for many years before retiring. Her professionalism, warmth, and kindness made a lasting impression on her coworkers and community.
Barbara married Fred Barr on July 15, 1965, and they shared many happy years together until his passing in 1984. Years later, she found love and companionship again with Chuck Weiss, whom she married on October 13, 1999. They built a beautiful life together until his passing in 2016.
In 2020, Barbara moved to Colorado to be near her beloved daughter, Elizabeth Barr Ryterski, and son-in-law, Eric Ryterski, of Louisville, Colorado. She treasured her time surrounded by family, especially her grandchildren - Meghan, Max, and Michael Ryterski, who brought her so much joy. She also remained close to Chuck's sons, Brad (Cathy) Weiss and Brent (Anne) Weiss, and their families.
Barbara was deeply connected to her faith and her church community. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life - playing cards, bingo, and Rummikub with friends and family. She was happiest when surrounded by laughter, love, and those she cared for most.
Barbara will be remembered for her steadfast love for her family and the warmth she brought into every room. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and loyalty.
She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth (Eric) Ryterski, her grandchildren, and her brother, Eric (Collette) Horn. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Fred Barr and Chuck Weiss, and her parents, Harriet and Ray Horn.
An open house will be held at Sunrise Flatirons in Broomfield, CO, on Saturday, Nov 22, from 2:00 to 4:00 to celebrate Barbara's life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Hospital in her memory.

I loved Barbara. We were in organizations together and bummed around together. Miss her terribly.
