Catherine Svezia
Catherine M. Kromroy Svezia, age 83, of Granite City, passed from this life on April 17, 2009, at Gateway Regional Medical Center.
Catherine was born on Nov. 23, 1925, in Marche, Ark., to the late Thomas and Mary Ann Zaweslak Kromroy.
She married John Paul Svezie on Sept. 24, 1949, at the old St. Mary's Catholic Church in Madison.
Catherine is currently a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Granite City. She was a homemaker and loved spending time and taking care of her family.
Survivors include two daughters, Jean Svezia Chamblin and husband Todd of Granite City, and Linda Svezia Daniels and husband Phillip of Edwardsville; two sisters: Veronica Nizinski of Maryville and Cecelia Kaleta of Granite City; one brother, Matthew and Dorothy Kromraj of Granite City.
Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband who passed on March 3, 2001, one brother Stanley and one sister Elizabeth.
Visitation will be on Monday, April 20, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City.
Mass Celebration will be on Tuesday, April 21, at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church with Fr. Pat Jakel officiating.
Burial will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Glen Carbon.
Memorials are suggested to the Bells of St. Mark or Masses to the church.
Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City is in charge of arrangements.
