Eugene Koenig Obituary
Eugene was born on November 30, 1923, in Pleasant Ridge, Illinois the son of the late Louis & Elsa (Heidorn) Koenig.
Eugene worked as a salesman for Shearburn Ice Cream Company in Alton. He also worked for Wonder Bread, Hostess Cake, and was self employed until retirement in 1984.
Eugene married Betty Lee Moore on January 26, 1945, in Edwardsville. She preceded him in death on October 22, 2013.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters; Helen Koenig and Virginia Whitby.
Eugene is survived by one daughter, Lisa Lee Husky and husband Pete of Troy, Illinois; and one granddaughter, Michaela Lee Reid of Troy.
Eugene served as a Sergeant in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Edwardsville, American Legion Post 199, and Masonic Lodge #99.
There will be no visitation or services; he will be cremated according to his wishes.
A private burial will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri at a later date.
