Harrison Stubbs Obituary

Harrison Bailey Stubbs, "Chubb," Feb. 6, 1917 to Sept. 14, 2009.
A resident of Edwardsville, Illinois and Santa Fe, N.M., passed away peacefully at age 92 in Santa Fe. Chubb was born and raised in Edwardsville and graduated from Edwardsville High School.
He was the only child of the late Arthur and Hazel Stubbs and was the beloved husband of nearly 70 years of Ruth Alexander Stubbs,. Chubb and his generous nature will forever be remembered by his devoted children Susan White of Santa Fe and Harrison A. Stubbs (Skip) of Oakland Calif., and by his treasured grandchildren Ethan, Amanda, and Alex White, and great grandchildren Blaise and Violet Rippy. Countless other friends and family were also blessed to have known him.
After graduating from Edwardsville High School, Chubb graduated from Purdue University. He served in the United States Air Force as a flight instructor from 1944 to 1946. After flying commercially for United for a few years, he inherited, owned and operated Dippold Brothers Grain and Feed in Edwardsville for 25 years.
He and his wife Ruth (TeeDee) were active members St. John's Methodist Church throughout their years in Edwardsville. Chubb and Teedee moved to Santa Fe to be close to family in 2004.
Chubb loved animals, including his Arabian horses and pet goat Heidi, and numerous dogs and cats that comforted family members over the years. He was also an Illini Sports fan and booster and had many dear friends that he and his wife would see at Illini games. Chubb loved a good joke, whether narrated or practical. He touched the lives of many people with his easy laugh and generosity, and maintained his sense of humor all the way to the end.
The family requests all donations be sent to the staff who gave such wonderful care for Chubb in his time of need at Kingston Residence Hacienda, 2400 Legacy Court, Santa Fe, NM 87507.
Chubb was interred with his wife and beside his parents in Woodlawn Cemetery in Edwardsville.
