James Hopkins Obituary

James Henry Hopkins
Edwardsville - James Henry Hopkins, 72, a longtime resident of Edwardsville, died on December 15, 2025. He was born on December 30, 1952, to Leroy Albert and Lucille Bates Hopkins. He is survived by his three children, Clayton (Tyler McKinnish), Chase, and Olivia; his sisters, Theresa Elofson (Richard) and Karen Phelps (Keith); one niece, six nephews, six great-nieces, and one great-nephew.
Jim graduated from Edwardsville High School in 1971 and earned his degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1975, studying business, geography, and political science. His career took him from drilling platforms in Texas, to consulting with multiple large firms in New York on improvement of operations, to running his own stock analysis business, and later to teaching economics as an Adjunct Instructor at Washington University in St. Louis.
A funeral service is being arranged at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Edwardsville for a later date in 2026.
