Kathleen Sommerfeldt Obituary

Kathleen Esther (nee McGilvary) Sommerfeldt age 79 of Edwardsville, passed away at 2:09 a.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2015, in Maryville, IL.
She was born Dec. 29, 1935, the only child of the late Charles L. and Esther L. (Sturm) McGilvary. A lifelong resident of Edwardsville, IL, she married Arnold Sommerfeldt on Dec. 30, 1956 in Hamel, IL.
Kathleen is survived by her husband, Arnold Sommerfeldt, her three daughters; Elizabeth Sommerfeldt Biggs (Randy), Patricia Ann Sommerfeldt, JulieAnn S. Worthen (Greg), three grandchildren; Timothy William Couch (Amanda Bane), Jonathan Hugh Worthen, Garrison Hugh Worthen, and by two great grandchildren; William Lee Couch and Ellie Grace Couch.
She attended Edwardsville High School, Lindenwood College and worked for Parsons Law Firm in Edwardsville. She and Arnold ran their family insurance business for 25 years prior to retirement.
Kathleen was an avid bridge player, loved genealogy and reading mysteries. She and Arnold travelled with the Avion/ Fleetwood Travelcade for many years. She belonged to the USD of the War of 1812, the Edwardsville Sportsman's Club, and the Plymouth Club.
Friends may call from 3:00-7:00 p.m., Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home. Memorial
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 30, 2015 at Weber& Rodney Funeral Home with Rev. John Shank, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating.
Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Edwardsville.
Memorials may be made to Hartz Second Chance Spay & Neuter Clinic, 119 United Drive, Collinsville, IL 62234 or a Humane Society of the donor's choice.
