Margaret "Peg" Larson McKinnon
Lake City - Margaret "Peg" Larson McKinnon, 83, of Lake City, Minnesota entered the Church Triumphant on Tuesday morning December 2, 2025, from her home at Elysian Senior Living in Lake City.
Peg was born on March 15, 1942, in Fargo, North Dakota to Willard and Margaret (Saunders) Larson. She attended elementary school and her early high school years in Fargo, then the family moved to Oklahoma City where she graduated from high school. Peg went on to attend Cottey Collage in Nevada, Missouri and finished her degree in education from Oklahoma City University. She then achieved a Colloquy Certification from Concordia University in Chicago, Illinois to become a Lutheran Elementary Teacher, and taught in many different Lutheran Schools over the years.
On June 2, 1962, she married Rex McKinnon. They were blessed with a daughter, Vickie.
During her lifetime she lived in Fargo, ND; Oklahoma City, OK; Long Beach, CA; Moore, OK; Glen Carbon, IL; Collinsville, IL; and finally retired to Hot Springs Village, AR. In Year 2019, both Rex and Peg moved to Lake City, MN to be closer to family.
Peg was most recently a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Lake City. She was active in all the communities and churches she belonged to over the years, and loved to sing in the choirs, and was a pianist. In her free time, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and doing counted cross-stitch.
Peg is survived by her husband of 63 years, Rex McKinnon of Lake City, Minnesota; a daughter, Victoria "Vickie" (Pastor Steven) Frentz of Lake City; a grandson MIDN Matthew Frentz, USN; a sister-in-law, Barb Larson of Magnolia, Texas; niece, Jenni Fager and Family of Magnolia, Texas; and nephew, Jeff Larson and Family of Newberg, Oregon. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Mark W. Larson.
A memorial service for Peg will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 9, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Lake City, with Pastor Steven Frentz officiating. The burial for Peg will be in the Faith Lutheran Church Memorial Garden in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas at a later date.
