Vernon Eardley
Edwardsville - Vernon Eardley, 82, of Edwardsville, Illinois, passed away peacefully at his residence on October 16, 2025, after a fearless and lengthy battle with Lewy Body Dementia with Parkinson's Disease. He was surrounded by his loving family and dear friends.
Vernon was a loving husband, father, grandfather, mentor, and friend whose kindness and steady presence touched all who knew him. He loved life and never met a stranger. He enjoyed playing golf, hunting, fishing, and cards, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his family, friends, and cherished grandchildren.
Vernon earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering and a master's degree in construction management from the University of Illinois. He began his career as a Project Engineer, helping to build Interstate 70 for the State of Illinois, and later joined Korte Construction in 1969. Vern served as President/CEO of the Korte Company for many years. Over the years, he built not only roads and buildings but also a legacy of hard work, mentorship, and lasting friendships.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Kathy; his sons, John (Allie) Eardley of St. Louis, MO, and Garrett (Katy) Eardley of St. Louis, MO; and his daughter, Jill Campbell of Chatham, IL. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Sloane Eardley, Palmer Eardley, Toby Eardley, Elizabeth Eardley, Ely Eardley, Jeremiah Eardley, Emeric Eardley, Rebecca Eardley, and Lydia Campbell.
He is further survived by his brothers, Bill (Sandy) Eardley, Dale (Jan) Eardley of Florida, Art (Linda) Eardley of Belleville, IL and many nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father Delores and Garnett Eardley and his brother Lloyd Eardley.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 4 p.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Edwardsville. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate a life well lived and deeply loved.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association or Father McGivney Catholic High School. Contributions will be received at the visitation or can be mailed to Weber & Rodney Funeral Home. Condolences may be shared online at
