LUZERNE — Alexander J. O'Donnell, 64, of Luzerne, passed away on Sunday morning at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
He was born in Wilkes-Barre, son of the late Alexander W. O'Donnell and Agnes (Kovalick) O'Donnell. He was a graduate of Wyoming Valley West High School, class of 1970. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran during the Vietnam conflict. Alex had 35 total years of service between the Marine Corps and the U.S. Army. He retired from Tobyhanna Army Depot and the 109th Field Artillery. He was a member of the VFW Post No. 283, Kingston, and American Legion Post No. 644, Swoyersville.
Alex is survived by his wife, the former Mary Alice James; son, Alexander O'Donnell Jr., of Luzerne; daughter, Nancy Geiser and husband, Carl, of Virginia; granddaughter, Brooke Geiser; brothers, David and William O'Donnell, both of Swoyersville; Richard O'Donnell, of Luzerne; sister, Patricia Fedorko, of Virginia.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home Inc., 568 Bennett St., Luzerne. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Swoyersville. Family and friends can call at the funeral home 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
