Ada Bryan Obituary

SPRING VALLEY, Calif. Ada Bryan, residing in Spring Valley, Calif., passed away Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013. Ada was a native Texan. She was the eldest daughter born in 1934, to the late Isaac Eugene and Winnie Wilkins of Coleman, Texas. Ada loves Jesus and was a member of the Southern Baptist Church. Ada attended Coleman High School and graduated in 1953. She met and married the love of her life, Thomas J. Bryan, in 1954. Ada was a Navy wife for 33 years, traveling with her husband and daughters to numerous destinations to which the United States Navy sent them, finally retiring in Spring Valley, Calif. She was also a homemaker. Her love for her family and others was her passion. Ada was strong willed, unwavering, generous and giving. She taught her daughters and grandchildren the advantages and benefits of hard work and always spoke of seeking out ones' God given talents and gifts and to use them to their fullest - to always "do the best you can". While living in Illinois, Ada served as the head of the Girl Scout Council of Northern Illinois based in Chicago. She taught young women how to be self-reliant and independent and to look for opportunities to help those who were in need. Ada was a generous donor to the San Diego County Toys For Tots Foundation, as well as the Salvation Army and other non-profit organizations which are committed to helping others in need. Ada is survived by her husband, Thomas; two daughters, Cynthia and Beverly; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her two sisters, Norma Trull of Brady, Texas, and Julia Williams of Dayton, Texas. Private funeral service and burial will be held in Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego, Calif.
