ALFONSO RODRIGUEZ Obituary
SAN ANGELO - Alfonso D. "Al" Rodriguez, 92, a longtime resident of San Angelo, passed away Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, surrounded by his family. Prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 25, in Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, in Johnson's Chapel with the Rev. Adam Sanchez officiating. Burial will follow in Lawnhaven memorial Gardens. Alfonso was born Nov. 22, 1915, in Del Rio, Texas, to Pedro and Maragarita Rodriguez. Alfonso began his working career as a farmer, sheep shearer, and picking cotton. He decided to better himself and prayed to his Lord and Savior to become a carpenter and was the majority of his life. Besides being a carpenter, he was a evangelist and minister. Alfonso was married to Benina Pena on Aug. 24, 1933, in Kennedy, Texas. They were married for 70 years. She preceded him in death Jan. 3, 2004. Alfonso is survived by his children, Modesta Gonzalez and husband Eusebio, Ruth Chavez and husband Jose, Celia Colemenero and husband Tito, Carolina Ramirez and husband Pedro, Hilda Ruiz and husband Pablo, Rosa Salcido, Carmen Sanchez and husband Adam, Esperanza Cardenas and husband Manuel, Adam Rodriguez and wife Yolanda, Josephine Chavez and husband Antonio, and Corina Rodriguez; 70 grandchildren; 171 great-grandchildren; 71 great-great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Maria Carrasco, Jesusita Reyes and Angelia de Leon. Pallbearers will be Danny Ramirez, David Ramirez, Alvino Garcia Jr., Isaias Rios Jr., Donny Rodriguez, Rueben Art, Alfonso Ruiz, Rudy Dominguez and Oni Longoria.
