Brooke Abney Obituary

BALLINGER Brooke Amber (Sikes) Abney, 35, of San Angelo, Texas, and formerly of Rowena, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2014, as a result of an automobile accident. Brooke was born Oct. 5, 1978, in Austin, Texas. She graduated from Ballinger High School in 1997, and attended Texas A&M University. Brooke and Dustin Abney were married May 5, 2012, in San Angelo. She was a purchasing agent for Dan Hil Containers in San Angelo. From an early age, Brooke was an avid, insatiable reader. She had many God-given talents, including an artistic ability for sketching and painting. She had an infectious smile and a loving, sweet disposition. Her hugs were genuine and heartfelt and one was blessed to be a recipient of one. She loved her family deeply and was a devoted wife, mother, daughter and sister. For many, she leaves a void no one else can fill. She was preceded in death by her father, Alan Sikes; her maternal grandparents, Ed and Margaret Schacherl; and paternal grandparents John and Charlotte Sikes. Brooke is survived by the love of her life, her husband, Dustin, and the other love of her life, her son, James, of San Angelo; her parents, Ray and Patsy Dierschke of Rowena; and stepmother Kathy Flannery of Austin. Her siblings are Bonnie Shrader and husband David of Dallas, Sheila Lewicki and husband Rob of Dallas and their children, Jack, Benjamin and Anna, Brandon Dierschke and wife Catherine of Rockwall and their children, Ian, Ellen and Cameron and Scott Sikes and wife Courtney and son Beau of Austin. Also surviving are parents-in-law Glen and Robyn Abney of Andrews; sisters-in-law Cheryl Beasley and children Raygayle and Shahala and Ashley Abney and daughter Aurora Watts; and aunts and uncles Leroy and Marilyn Schacherl, Betty Jo Halfmann, Dan and Marilynn Dierschke, Gene and Mary Cay Dierschke, Joyce and Wilbert Braden, Sharon Lange and James Kuykendall and Susie Lister. A rosary/wake service will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday, July 18, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rowena. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 19, also at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Fr. Ariel Lagunilla and Deacon Stanley Lange officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be David Shrader, Rob Lewicki, Brandon Dierschke, Scott Sikes, John Mook, Danny Casillas and Nolan Paige. A private burial will take place at a later date. Services are under the direction of Lange Funeral Home of Ballinger. Guests may register online at ballingerfuneralhome.com.
