CLEOFAS HERNANDEZ Obituary
Cleofas Hernandez, 95, of San Angelo, Texas, went home to be with his Heavenly Father at 3:35 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 2003. Mr. Hernandez was born Sept. 25, 1907, in San Antonio, Texas. He retired from the Santa Fe Railroad after 44 years of service. He was a parishioner of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He married Herminia Gallegos Nov. 5, 1927, in Snyder, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Herminia (Minnie) Hernandez, and sons, Alfonso and Alberto Hernandez. He is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Pete and Antonia Hernandez of San Diego, Calif., Tony and Susie Hernandez of Fairfield, Calif., Alfred and Jane Hernandez of San Angelo and Adam and Mary Hernandez of San Angelo; one daughter, Alice Reyes of Dallas; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Modesto Gutierrez Sr., Hector Castro, Pete Chapa, Ben Flores and grandsons, Eddie Reyes and Michael Hernandez. Honorary pallbearers were to be Sam Soto and Abel Castro Sr., whom Cleofas wanted as pallbearers, but they preceded him in death. The family would like to especially thank the Division II staff at Baptist Memorial for their care and dedication. Also, they would like to express their sincere appreciation for the special care given to Mr. Hernandez by Modesto Gutierrez Sr. Rosary was at 7 p.m. Monday, April 21, in Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. The Hernandez family has requested that memorials be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church building fund.
