DANIEL KLEINMAN Obituary

SAN ANGELO - On Thursday, July 13, 2006, Daniel Kleinman died peacefully at his home in San Angelo. Born in Baltimore, Md., on June 22, 1916, to Mae and Harry Kleinman, Dan moved with his parents to San Angelo at the age of 3 years. When Santa Rita Elementary School was new, Dan was one of the first students to attend there. After graduation from San Angelo High School, he attended the University of Texas in Austin, from which he received a degree in business administration in 1939. In 1940 he married Sara "Tootsie" Jacobs, whom he had met while in college. They recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Dan owned the Fashion Shop, selling high-end women's clothing and accessories. He always had a smile and a kind word for everyone he met. He was a member of the Twin Mountain Tonesmen, the Shriners, the Antique Auto Club and Kiwanis along with being on board of directors with the YMCA and the San Angelo Symphony Board. He was preceded in death by his son, Barry Kleinman. Dan is survived by his wife, Tootsie; son Harrell Marc Kleinman of Dallas, Texas; brother Maurice Kleinman and wife Jane of Lake Charles, La., and their son and daughter, Harry and Helaine and their families; along with many cousins and relatives. The family wishes to thank Dan's caregivers, Martha Lopez, Carmen Molina, Sharon Martinez, Susan Balli, Rosa Ibarra, Monica Duffley, Raquel Biera, Mary Rodriquez, Micaela Molina, Josie Olivas and Nanette Mendoza for making the last days of his life more pleasant and complete. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 17, in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the charity of your choice.
