Daniel Lara Obituary
San Angelo
Daniel G. Lara, 64, of San Angelo, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at his home, surrounded by family.
He was born Jan. 26, 1951, to the late Sebastian and Juanita G. Lara, in San Angelo, Texas.
Daniel married the love of his life, Sara Delafuente, on Sept. 18, 1976. They where married for 39 wonderful years.
Daniel was employed as auto technician at Mitchell Buick GMC. He was also very active in his church community, Holy Angels Catholic Church. Daniel was a member of the San Angelo Knights of Columbus council 2136 and Father Serran R. Braun Assembly 1098. Daniel enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, but most of all he enjoyed spending quality time with his grandchildren, watching "Bud" excel in all of his sporting events.
He will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sister.
Rosary will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 4, 2015, at Holy Angels Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Inurnment will be held at 10 a.m. Friday June 5, 2015, at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 2202 Rutgers St. San Angelo, Texas.
The Lara family would like to extend special thanks to Hospice of San Angelo, especially nurse Pamela Murphy RN and Molly Riley CNA. A special thanks goes to the medical staff of Shannon Medical Center including Dr. RAJ Cheruku, and Dr. James C. Barnett and W Cannon Lewis, MD of San Antonio Texas, also including Tom Clemmons Eucharistic Minister and Deacon Walter Hammons II.
Survivors include his wife, Sara Lara; son Daniel Ray Lara (Leah) from McKinney, Texas; daughters Anna Marie (Keith) Scott of Lindell, Texas, and Anita Lara of San Angelo; grandchildren John David Escobedo of Pflugerville, Konnor and Kobe Scott of Lindell, Natalie and Andrea Escobedo of San Angelo and pride and joy Christian James "Bud" Lara of San Angelo; brothers Joe (Emily) of Valrico, Florida, Frank and Jerry (Irene) Lara of San Angelo; sisters Margaret (Fred) Garcia of Abilene and Amy (Johnny) Perez of San Angelo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson's Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers or donations, the Lara family would like the proceeds to go to the Hospice of San Angelo, Texas.
To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

Daniel had the purest, truest, and most gentle soul. He was a gift to all of us from God. His memory will continue to be a gift to us. It was an honor to ask Sara and Daniel to be godparents to our daughter, Erin. Though the Army moved us away, Daniel's love for family and unswerving faith in the goodness of our God was always a model for Erin to follow. While we are all crying for the life lost, Daniel is rejoicing for the life lived.

Sara and family, My heart goes out to you at this sad time. Daniel was a very special man and a role model in his life and in his suffering. I will always remember his smile and how it went straight to his eyes. What a blessing he has been to all of us. So very saddened to hear about "Uncle" Daniel's death - and I refer to him as "Uncle" even though he was not my uncle, but my nephews TC and Erik Flores, almost everyone I knew, called him Uncle Daniel. He was always so kind and respectful, always greeted people with a smile. I have no particular wisdom to share in this time of grief, dear Sara, and your entire family, but I do know he leaves a legacy of being a good man. A good husband, father, grandfather and friend. Take heart in knowing he knew he was well loved and he loved you back. I think when tragedy occurs, it presents a choice to give in to the sadness and heartache. And that is OK. But also, you can choose to have a life that's filled with meaning by fulfilling the dreams and goals Daniel held for all of his family, especially his grandchildren who were blessed to have him in their lives.
