Dora Jane (Dody) Wood

Dora Jane Smith Wood was born February 23, 1940, in San Angelo, Texas.

She met her husband Paul when she was still in her teens. She fell in love and enjoyed married life for 63 years. They had three beloved children, Daner, Elaine, and Beau, who gave them seven dearly loved grandchildren.

Dody and Paul have been a lifelong team and have accomplished a great deal together. They lived in small towns until moving to the metroplex, suffered the loss of their family home in a major fire, but as always, their positivity helped them to recover and settle in Southlake.

She has loved God's word since she was young. After the loss of their oldest son Daner to cancer in 2015, Dody maintained her steadfast faith in the Bible, Jehovah God, and the hope of the resurrection. Dody believed in living forever on a paradise earth. Her hope was anchored by Jesus' words at Luke 23:43 where he said, 'you will be with me in paradise'. And the hope stated at Revelation 21:4, that one day death and mourning will be no more, along with the words at Psalm 37:29. Dody shared her faith with family and friends, helping many to learn more about Bible truth and hope.

Philanthropic activities were also at the top of Dody's list. Her contributions in time, energy and resources were extensive and immeasurable.

So many things about Dody made her very special: her love of family, of friends, of horses, and life itself. And those of you that knew and loved her remember all the things that she's accomplished.

Dody is survived by her husband Paul, two children Elaine and Beau (wife Ellen), seven grandchildren, Paul (Taz), Patrick, Hampton, Dylan, Devon, Slade and Easton, along with her brother Jimmy Smith.

Paul, Elaine and Beau thank you for the friendship and love you've shown her through the years.

A small memorial for Dody will be held in the days to come.
