Gary Derrick Obituary
San Angelo
Gary Randel Derrick was born Nov. 20, 1949, in El Paso, Texas, to Howard and Faye Dell Derrick. At age two, Gary won the El Paso Big Baby Award weighing in at 32 pounds.
Gary graduated from Eldorado High School in 1968 where he played football, basketball and ran track. He attended college at Colorado State University, Texas Tech University and Texas A&M University. He ranched for many years in Sutton, Scleicher and San Saba counties. Gary loved golfing, spending time with family and friends and he especially loved an evening drive around the ranch with his adored Yorkie, Emmy Jo.
Gary was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Faye Powell Ball and his father and best friend, Howard C. Derrick.
Gary is survived by his mother, Faye Dell Derrick and his family, Trouba, Jennifer, Christopher, Kimberly, Max and Will Derrick, Julie, Troy and Morgan Gilger; and his sister, Linda Williams. Gary has many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends that he cherished.
Memorial service is at 11 a.m. Friday June 9, 2017, at Harper Funeral Home.
