LEONARDO RAMIREZ Obituary

JUNCTION - Leonardo "Leo" Ramirez, 72, died at home Wednesday, May 17, 2006. He was born Jan. 4, 1934, in Ciudad Fernandez, San Luis Potosi, Mexico, to Maximilliano and Acencion Garcia Martinez. He attended the Federal Horticultural Institute in San Luis Potosi before coming to the United States in the early 1950s. He came to Kimble County in 1952 and continued to work in agriculture and farming on the Kothmann Properties. He enjoyed ranching, gardening, reading the Bible, cooking and other hobbies. He married Elodia Moreno on April 24, 1956. He is survived by his wife; five children, Jesus, Felix, Daniel, Irma Palma and Esmeralda Valenzuela; 10 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two brothers, Simon Ramirez and Ivan Martinez of Junction; and three sisters, Adela Martinez, Benita Martinez of San Luis Potosi, Mexico, and Abundia Martinez of Tampico, Mexico. He was preceded in death by his father, Maximilliano Martinez; mother Acencion Garcia; and brother Aurelio Zuniga. Wake service was Thursday, May 18, at Gentry-Fife Funeral Home in Junction, Texas. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, May 19, at Gentry-Fife Funeral Home. Pastor Enrique Alvarado will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Felix Ramirez, Daniel Ramirez, Robert Valenzuela III, Fabian Valenzuela, Victor Ramirez and Rafael Ramirez. Honorary pallbearer will be Carlos Vasquez.
