Lisa Patton Obituary

NAPA, CALIF On the morning of June 25, 2014, Lisa passed away while on vacation with her family in Mexico. She was 53 years old. Lisa was born in San Jose, California, on Feb. 12, 1961. She was the third child of Jean Ilene and Don Eldred Hirschfelt. She grew up in Campbell, California. She was fortunate that her birthday was always a school holiday and the family usually took a snow trip to Lake Tahoe to celebrate. Her family nickname was ?Leetie Bird' and she was always the center of joy and happiness in the family. She played violin, had a beautiful voice and a silly and creative sense of humor from a young age. She was always surrounded by friends because no one could resist her infectious enthusiasm and humor. She and ?Sissy' loved nothing more than to entertain their daddy, whether it was singing "Sisters" every Christmas, or playing with her stuffed Snoopy in the backseat of the car on road trips to Texas and Illinois. She always took charge of the situation -- in her collection she has responses from letters she wrote to Nixon, Charles Shultz and Johnny Carson. She let Carson know that she thought Steve Martin would be a big star and should be on a second time. She went to West Valley College and worked in management positions at Acacia, Lockheed and Link in the computer industry, and later in the wine industry for Domaine Chandon, Merryvale and Harland Estate. Two years ago, she made a life change and became a massage therapist. The change fit her well since she always enjoyed helping others and making them feel better. She had recently started her own business, The Pampered Lady, in Napa, California. Lisa married Brian Clifford Patton on July 14, 1990, and they moved to Napa. Lisa enjoyed many years with her new friends and the Patton family in the Napa Valley. They also began spending summer vacations with Brian's family in Sandpoint, Idaho. More than anything Lisa wanted to be a mother and her wish came true with the births of Shawn in 1998, and Natalie in 1999. She was the perfect mother and they are her perfect children. Shawn was a very small preemie, but with her daily attention and adoration, and his fighting spirit, Shawn is now a New Tech High School Junior. Natalie looks like Lisa and was her best friend and buddy. Lisa was also "mother" to many neighbor and school friends. Every kid wanted to be at her house and with her because she made every activity fun and an adventure. Lisa was an asset to the Napa Valley Community. She made valuable connections to the schools that her children attended. Teachers, parents, and students from Bel Aire Park Elementary, River Middle School, and New Tech High School will greatly miss Lisa's caring presence and willingness to always lend a helping hand. She always greeted people with a smile and a hug and her laughter brightened every visit. Making people happy made her happy, a true testament of her beauty both inside and out. Lisa was preceded in death by her father, Don; and older brother Jim. She is survived by her husband, Brian; her son, Shawn; her daughter, Natalie; her mother, Jean; sister Donna Hirschfelt; her father and mother-in-law, James and Patsy Patton; sister and brother-in-law Danny and Kathy McDonald; nieces and nephews Katy Hirschfelt, Joshua Mc Donald, Zachary McDonald, Kaylee Willmann; and extended family in California, Texas, Minnesota and Idaho. Lisa has been lovingly caring for her elderly mother for more than a decade. A celebration of her life will be held at 3 p.m. July 19, at Crosswalk Community Church, 2590 First St., Napa, California. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lisa Patton Donative Fund or Shawn and Natalie Patton Donative Fund, Umpqua Bank, Napa, California.

I only knew Lisa for a short time, but she impressed me so much with her positive spirit and deep caring for people. She was someone I always looked forward to seeing. We were just becoming friends and I'm so sad that we won't have the chance to develop that connection. My heart goes out to everyone who loved her and will miss her, as I do.
