MARGIE STRUNK Obituary
SAN ANGELO - Margie Feist Strunk found peace in the Lord on Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2007. Margie was born on March 11, 1925, and raised in Shamrock, Texas. Margie raised her six children and retired from Verizon as an accountant after 30 years of service. She's a former member of the St. Ambrose Altar Society, and she volunteered countless hours for Meals for the Elderly. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Stroud and husband Lynn, Cynthia Davidson and husband Doug, and Gwendolyn Christensen; her sons, Bill Feist and wife Laura, and Richard Feist and wife Barbara; nine grandchildren, Chrissy, Darrell, Marcie, James, Tommy, David, Randy, Melissa and Jessica; and 17 great-grandchildren. Preceding Margie in death was her son, Michael Feist. Margie was admired by all who knew her for being a woman of strong character and courage who loved to laugh, was lucky at bingo and was admired by all with whom she worked. Her children remember her as a devoted mother filled with a limitless supply of love, encouragement and wisdom. They appreciated the benefit of her life experience through the advice she handed out, whether they wanted it or not, and during a crisis, they benefited from the fearless way that she did what needed to be done and said what needed to be said. For these they will always be grateful. She took great pleasure in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and often went to great lengths to make them feel special. They, in turn, took great pleasure in her amazing smile, incredible sense of humor, her arms, always ready with a hug, and hands, always ready with something sweet to eat. Goodbye Mom. Goodbye Grandma. Goodbye G.G. The world is a better place because you were in it! Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, at Johnson's Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Wall. The Cornerstone The cornerstone has become weary. She crumbles beneath the weight of her living and her years. We must build her up with our memory, Patch her with our tears. Each brick was placed so carefully, All different shapes and colors. And as she watched her framework grow She held each one so lovingly, Proud of her happy home. We watch as the cornerstone sinks Into the soft, dark earth. And as she settles to find her peace, She is unseen, But still she is there. We see the mortar that holds us together It has no cracks or holes. For the cornerstone, she is the foundation Upon which our family grows.
